RICK HANSEN FOUNDATION

Richmond, British Columbia, V7B 0A2 Canada

Mission Statement

To create and deliver innovative solutions that lead to a global movement to remove barriers and liberate the potential of people with disabilities.

About This Cause

In 1985, Rick Hansen set out on the Man in Motion World Tour; a 26 month, 34 country, 40,000 km wheelchair marathon. The Tour raised $26 million and changed the way people with disabilities were perceived. The Rick Hansen Foundation (RHF), established in 1988, is part of its legacy. For over three decades, the Foundation has facilitated collaboration, forged partnerships and generated social innovations. We continue to fund spinal cord injury research and develop programs and initiatives that raise awareness, change attitudes, and remove barriers for people with disabilities, including our School Program, Accessibility Certification Program, and Accessibility Advisory Services. For more information visit www.RickHansen.com Goals • Create meaningful accessibility by optimizing and positioning RHF Accessibility Certification for accelerated growth. • Educate Canadians and communicate clear pathways to empower them to make their communities more inclusive and accessible. • Develop diversified and sustainable revenue streams to fund and increase the impact of our core activities and programs. • Accelerate research and elevate care to improve the lives of those living with spinal cord injuries.
