We provide safe, supportive places where children, youth, and older adults can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life.
About This Cause
BGC London (the Boys & Girls Club of London) works directly with children and youth in the London community. Free bussing for members in Grades 1 to 8 is available weekdays after school from a variety of different neighbourhoods in London. At the Club, the children can enjoy a variety of in-house facilities including two pools, gymnasium, various activity rooms to play activities, games, make arts and crafts, and more. We also have a state-of-the-art recording studio which is located within our Digital Creative Arts Centre (D.C.A.C.) at the Club. The D.C.A.C. is a classroom, recording studio, and performance space where youth can learn technical skills in audio recording, graphic design, videography, and more. Our nutrition program, Supper Club, offers children and youth a nutritious meal and the cost is subsidized by donations and grants so that the nominal fee of $2 is affordable for families (However, we do not turn anyone away if they're unable to afford a meal). Memberships are geared to income and can be obtained for a minimal amount of $25. Whenever school is out, we operate day camps for children and youth ages 4 to 15 years old. The children and youth enjoy a full day of scheduled activities that may include swimming, gym games, crafts and out trips. Swimming lessons are also offered throughout the year. In addition, the Horton Street 50+ Centre operates within the Club during the day and offers a variety of programs for older adults aged 50 and over. We offer large variety of fitness and aquatics classes, recreational programs and activities including lane swimming, a fully accessible fitness room, various social and creative programs, transportation services, specialty programs and events, educational opportunities, and our Café serves meals (eat in and take-home) for our own members and the community.
