Mission Statement

To fight the fire of arthritis with research, advocacy, innovation, information and support.

About This Cause

Arthritis is Canada’s most common health condition, affecting six million people across the country, including 25,000 children. That’s more people than diabetes, heart disease, cancer and stroke combined. It is a serious, chronic and incurable disease that causes pain, restricts mobility, results in disability and impacts all facets of life. It is also one of the most misunderstood, underfunded, under-recognized and under-represented diseases in research, health care and services. Arthritis Society Canada aims to change that. For more than 75 years, Arthritis Society Canada has been fighting the fire of arthritis through research, advocacy, innovation, information and support. It is the largest charitable funder of arthritis research in Canada, having invested more than $230 million to transform the way the disease is diagnosed, treated and prevented. While remarkable advances have been made, the dial on progress must continue to move – this means thinking differently, changing the narrative and pushing the envelope on traditional approaches to bring meaningful change to the arthritis community. Arthritis Society Canada’s bold vision is a world free of arthritis, but like-minded donors, visionaries and investors are needed to pursue this future.
