About This Cause

United Way British Columbia – working with communities in BC’s Interior, Lower Mainland, Northern BC, Powell River and Qathet Region, and Central & Northern Vancouver Island – strengthens vital connections that support people in need in our local communities. British Columbia has a unique set of social challenges. Rapidly rising costs are putting pressure on grocery bills. After-school and summer programs for local kids or support services for isolated seniors are luxuries that many simply can’t afford right now. United Way British Columbia is uniquely set up to overcome these challenges. Let’s be here. For each other. Thanks to donors like you, we can provide nutritious, culturally appropriate meals to those in need, give local kids access to high quality, after-school programs, and lift isolated seniors and others from loneliness. Let’s be here for each other, strengthening the vital connections in the community that matters most, yours. Need more details? Here’s how you can help us make a difference: Here. For fuller plates and hearts No one should have to decide between food and rent, and yet, 1 in 7 Canadians is facing hunger. Our Community Food Hubs mobilize thousands of volunteers to sort, prep or deliver fresh, nutritious food for those who need it most. Here. For brighter futures All children deserve a chance to reach their full potential, but 1 in 5 BC kids live in poverty. United Way provides safe, accessible programs and activities that help kids develop friendships, build confidence and learn new skills. Here. For each other. Seniors who remain active and socially engaged are happier and healthier. United Way supports, connects, and provides activities for older adults to combat social isolation while living independently. Here. When help is needed. We can all use a little help from time to time, but sometimes we just don’t know where to turn. That’s exactly what our 211 British Columbia helpline is here for. It provides free, confidential information and connection to a broad range of community, government, and social services to help when you need it. These are just some of the many ways we’re strengthening vital connections in our communities. Show your local love and give generously today.
