Mission Statement
Anduhyaun Inc. strives to support Indigenous women and children in their efforts to maintain their cultural identity, self-esteem, economic, physical and spiritual well-being.
About This Cause
Anduhyaun means “Our Home” in Ojibwa. Since 1973, Anduhyaun Inc. has become home to thousands of Indigenous women and children recovering from the traumas of violence, homelessness, colonization, and systemic oppression. Anduhyaun operates two housing facilities: (1) an Emergency Shelter, which is the second oldest shelter in Canada; and (2) Nekenaan Second Stage Housing, a natural progression for Shelter clients into transitional housing. Both locations provide strength-based, culturally relevant, and trauma-informed programs to empower residents to heal with dignity and prepare for independent living beyond their time with us.
