Mission Statement

The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is proud to be a champion and voice for Canadians who care about cancer. We are committed to supporting and engaging people in communities across the country.

About This Cause

At CCS we know that cancer changes people but it doesn’t have to define them. With your help, we serve the 2 in 5 Canadians who will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and work to support them by helping people live longer and enhancing their quality of life. With donor support, we are changing lives for the better. Thanks to the generosity of Canadians, CCS: • Funds groundbreaking research across more than 100 types of cancer and across the entire cancer continuum from prevention, to diagnosis, treatment and living with and beyond cancer to most effectively impact Canadians • Provides a national support system to help Canadians affected by cancer live their lives as fully as possible by helping them manage life with cancer, providing community and connection, and building wellness and resilience throughout the cancer journey • Shapes health policies that will save lives and make living with cancer easier Impact Update Donor support has made the following research breakthroughs possible: • First-of-its-kind evidence about the best sequence of drugs for metastatic hormone therapy-resistant prostate cancer • New insights into how leukemia arises that could be used to identify people at risk of developing the disease and potentially prevent it • A more complete understanding of the different subtypes of childhood brain cancers to create tailored and more effective treatments Today, around 63% of Canadians diagnosed with cancer will survive at least 5 years after their diagnosis compared to 55% in the early 1990s. When we work together as a collective of dedicated and passionate Canadians, we can prove that life is bigger than cancer. Donate today!
