Our Mental Health and Primary Care Hub promotes and enhances the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of the Durham community through education, collaboration, advocacy, and the provision of a broad range of direct services. It is our vision to foster a community where living well is promoted. We strive to preserve the dignity and self-determination of our clients while embracing the values of diversity, inclusivity, equity, accessibility, and social justice. About This Cause

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Durham is a leading community-based organization dedicated to promoting mental health and supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges. For over 60 years, CMHA Durham has been a beacon of hope and support for the Durham region, offering a comprehensive range of services and programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of the community. Mission and Vision: CMHA Durham's mission is to enhance the mental health and well-being of all individuals and communities through innovative services, advocacy, education, and partnerships. Our vision is a society where mental health is recognized as essential to overall health, and everyone receives the support they need to lead fulfilling lives. Programs and Services 1. Crisis Support: Immediate assistance for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, including a 24/7 crisis line, mobile crisis intervention, and safe beds for short-term stabilization. 2. Case Management: Personalized support for individuals with mental health issues to help them navigate services, set and achieve goals, and improve their quality of life. 3. Counseling and Therapy: Professional counselling services to address a range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship problems. 4. Peer Support: Programs led by individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges, offering empathy, understanding, and guidance to others on their recovery journey. 5. Housing Services: Assistance with finding and maintaining stable housing, including supportive housing options for those with mental health conditions. 6. Employment Support: Programs designed to help individuals with mental health issues find and retain employment, including job training, resume building, and interview preparation. 7. Community Education and Outreach: Workshops, seminars, and campaigns aimed at raising awareness about mental health, reducing stigma, and promoting mental wellness. 8. Youth Programs: Tailored services for young people, including early intervention, counselling, and support groups to address issues such as bullying, stress, and academic pressures. Advocacy and Public Policy CMHA Durham is a staunch advocate for mental health at the local, provincial, and national levels. We work tirelessly to influence public policy, promote mental health awareness, and fight against the stigma associated with mental illness. Our advocacy efforts aim to ensure that mental health care is accessible, comprehensive, and integrated into the broader healthcare system.
