Mission Statement
The mission of the Montfort Foundation is to solicit, receive, administer and expend funds and the income derived therefrom, for the purposes of developing, expanding and promoting health care in our community, as well as research and teaching for the Montfort Hospital.
About This Cause
Montfort is a hospital whose influence extends across Ontario and Canada. It is first and foremost a powerful symbol of the vitality of our community and its limitless potential. Montfort provides exemplary health care and services in both official languages—serving a Francophone population of more than 250,000 in Eastern Ontario. We are the only Francophone teaching hospital west of the province of Québec, with more than 500 students in 64 different disciplines, including 260 medical residents from 38 different teaching affiliations throughout Canada. With its community mission, this unique academic hospital is an invaluable inheritance for future Ontarians. Montfort also has a research mission focusing on the health of Francophone minority populations. This research allows L’Institut du Savoir Montfort to identify best practices in health care delivery in a clinical setting, in order to facilitate ongoing quality improvement in health services to the Ontarian population. The findings of this research will be shared with all physicians and health professionals working in minority communities in Ontario, elsewhere in Canada and even abroad. There is an urgent need in many Ontario communities for English and French speaking physicians. To address this issue, Montfort has developed even closer ties with all Ontario hospitals and other health facilities so that students can learn and practice in their home regions. In order for the Montfort Hospital to be able to continue to play its leading role, it has to remain at the cutting edge in training and delivery of medical services and health care. It must build on firm cultural and community foundations and ensure solid financial support.
