Mission Statement
As the first centre for abused women and children in Canada, we are leaders in the campaign for women’s empowerment, providing innovative, specialized services that help abused women and their children transform their lives and break the cycle of violence. Interval House provides a continuum of services and a holistic approach to help women and children escape violence and rebuild their lives. We nurture families from crisis intervention to re-integration into the workforce and the community with programs providing emotional support, practical help and life skills.
About This Cause
Every six days, a Canadian woman is killed by her intimate partner. In the last five years, at least one woman or girl was killed every 48 hours in Canada. It happens in all cultures and religions; in every ethnic and racial community; and to the rich and the economically disadvantaged. It’s happening in their homes, where they are supposed to feel safe. Most women who turn to Interval House are financially dependent on their partners and/or social services. They do not have access to safe and affordable housing and risk homelessness. Recognizing these challenges, Interval House, with nearly 50 years of experience, provides a continuum of services to help women and children escape abuse for a better, violence-free life. Our programs offer women and their children practical and emotional support to start rebuilding their lives, and to leave the violence behind for good.
