About This Cause

The Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta (LDAA) is a non-profit charitable organization of parents and professionals, established in 1968 under the Society’s Act. Our vision is an Alberta where individuals with learning disabilities are understood, supported, and empowered, throughout their lives. The Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta (LDAA) is a transformative non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and supporting individuals impacted by learning disabilities (LD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) through education, collaboration, and advocacy. At the core of our mission is a commitment to fostering understanding, providing essential resources, and championing the rights of those facing the challenges of LD and ADHD. Central to our approach are three strategic priorities that define our purpose and guide our actions: EDUCATE: LDAA recognizes the power of knowledge in transforming lives. To this end, we have embarked on the creation of the 'LDAA Learning Series.' This innovative initiative aims to equip educators, parents, service providers, and adults with comprehensive educational tools such as webinars, courses, and programs. By increasing awareness and understanding of learning disabilities, we aspire to spark positive change and elevate the quality of life for those affected by LD and ADHD. COLLABORATE: At LDAA, we firmly believe that unity brings strength. We actively seek collaborations with fellow Alberta organizations, uniting efforts to provide invaluable support and information to individuals facing the challenges of learning disabilities. Through enhanced access to pertinent resources, information, and connections, we endeavor to create a robust support network that empowers individuals and families alike. ADVOCATE: Advocacy is at the heart of LDAA's commitment to change. We engage with decision-makers, influential figures, and our community to drive impactful advocacy efforts. Our aim is to cultivate understanding, advocate for the rights of individuals with learning disabilities and their families, and translate our advocacy into tangible actions that lead to positive outcomes.
