Mission Statement
A community project and Social Enterprise of Thrive Community Support Circle, the Thrift Shop aims to empower families and individuals. It does this by providing access to good quality clothing and household items at affordable prices, and by providing volunteer opportunities where individuals can learn employment skills and gain work experience. We work with volunteers from various programs, including disability programs, work experience programs, the Fine Options program, and volunteers doing court-mandated community service. As well as newcomers to Canada and international students!
About This Cause
Founded in 1973 as a crisis line for pregnant women, Thrive Community Support Circle, formally Pregnancy and Family Support Services Inc. is committed to offering direct, short & long-term, quality support, resources and counseling to women, pregnant women, men, children and family units seeking help. Over the years, the agency has established a significant presence in the inner city. We serve diverse families with multiple needs from four locations. We also operate a thrift shop which offers an important service to the community. All revenue generated by the shop goes directly into agency programs and services. Volunteer opportunities are also available for both women and men. Incorporated as a non-profit organization, the agency is supported through private donations: The United Way, Manitoba Child Day Care, Family Resource Programs, and through other organized community groups, corporations, private donors and foundations.
