Mission Statement
The Q&DCDC’s mission is to help people who are pregnant, new parents, children, youth, and families discover their potential. Our work supports our clients to bring this potential into the world using a family-centered model which acknowledges and respects each individual.
About This Cause
The Quesnel & District Child Development Centre is a registered charity that was founded in 1976 to provide therapy services for children and youth with disabilities. Since then, we have grown and now offer accredited programs that provide multiple points of access for parents, parents-to-be, and community partners seeking support for children and youth presenting with a variety of extra support needs: Pregnancy Outreach, Infant Development, Supported Child Development, and Therapies. Our assessment, intervention, and support services for children, youth, and families are aimed at both mitigating the risk factors that can lead to delays in development and reducing the impact of disability. Our work is guided by our belief that the people we serve are entitled to quality programs and supports which emphasize inclusion, promote health and wellness, and facilitate physical, social, emotional, communicative, and intellectual development. We know that effective services must focus on children and youth within the context of their families and the community and that we must be accessible and ready to meet the unique needs of each individual. Referrals are accepted from anyone, especially from parents or parents-to-be who self-refer and our programs and services are provided at no cost to our clients.
