Mission Statement

The Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre equips and empowers individuals and their families seeking pregnancy-related resources by : delivering accurate information to those facing an unexpected pregnancy, offering support and healing to those affected by a pregnancy loss/abortion, educating about healthy relationships, positive parenting, and life skills development for men and women, providing a nurturing maternity home and, connecting clients with community resources. All of our programs and services are free, confidential, and are offered in a safe and non-judgmental environment regardless of age, gender, race, or religion.

About This Cause

With a vision to offer hope and practical help to women facing an unexpected pregnancy decision, a group of concerned individuals in Red Deer began their work to establish a pregnancy care centre in 1986. The Pregnancy Care Centre became a registered society and opened its doors in 1988 under the name Red Deer Crisis Pregnancy Care Centre. The name was changed to Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre in the fall of 1992 to reflect our geographical outreach and service more accurately. Over the years, the CAPCC has grown to offer unique programs and services throughout Central Alberta. Self-administered pregnancy tests are provided to clients who want to confirm their pregnancy. * All clients are encouraged to visit their family physician, regardless of the outcome of their pregnancy test 2. Options Support offers women unbiased, nonjudgmental, factual information and support when facing an unexpected pregnancy; using a client centred approach that includes honoring the client’s individuality, independence, privacy, and dignity 3. 24-Hour Help Line offers a trained, volunteer client advocate available by telephone outside of regular office hours. 4. Male Mentorship offers trained male volunteers who work one-on-one with male clients to provide information and support on a weekly basis as needed. 5. Clothing Boutique provides CAPCC clients with maternity clothes and toiletries, a layette at the birth of the baby, infant and toddler clothing (up to size 2), blankets, diapers, and formula. 6. Steps to Sexual Health Program is a 10-week individual program that facilitates restoration and a new perspective for individuals dealing with sexual misuse, trauma, or abuse. 7. Post Abortion Recovery Education (PARE) is a safe, nonjudgmental, confidential environment to express and work through the emotions associated with abortion loss. 8. Prenatal Classes are one-on-one classes offered to clients and their labor support person and taught by volunteer registered nurses. 9. 24/7 Dad is a National Fatherhood, evidenced-based program to train fathers to be involved, responsible, and committed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 10. Maternity Home Phase One is a home for pregnant teens and young women in Central Alberta between the ages of 12-25; they are provided with a safe and stable environment; learn life and parenting skills and healthy relationships with the expected impact of transformation to a life of stability, independence, and improved health in all areas. 11. Maternity Home Phase Two is seven self-contained units for mom and baby from six months to two years, with continued support, education, skills acquisition, and goals attainment.
