About This Cause

Simcoe and District Humane Society is a non-profit, charitable organization chartered in 1953. SDHS volunteers have helped animals in and around Norfolk County, relying on fundraising activities and donations from members of community. The Society is not funded by any level of government or other organizations. The Society relies on volunteers to look after every aspect of the Society including daily operations and working hands on with the animals from intake to adoption. Foster homes are a great asset to the Society as the organization prepares to raise funds for a much needed building. The Society in cooperation with Fanshawe College, Social Services and Canada Summer Jobs, gives young people the opportunity to gain work experience which benefits both the young person and the Society. Charitable Organization #:119150282RR0001 Goals To house animals in a shelter setting or in foster homes, medically treating those sick, injured or distressed, preparing each animal for adoption to their forever home.
