Mission Statement
Empower everyone to improve lives and build strong communities The United Way of Durham Region is improving lives locally by moving people from poverty to possibility, helping kids be all they can be, and building strong and healthy communities. The role of UWDR is to help give structure to a cohesive and coordinated community wide effort which will not only help immediately and efficiently, but do so in the most coherent and effective fashion possible. “Every cent well spent” is a phrase which is deeply embedded in our culture. Agency and program reviews help to ensure our donors that their charitable generosity gets to the people who need it most. We are proud to be the custodians of this proud legacy of sharing and caring, and we are grateful to the many hundreds of campaign volunteers who make it possible, and the many thousands of donors all across this region who demonstrate by their actions the finest elements of community.
