Mission Statement

When you support United Way Winnipeg, you’re helping build a better and stronger Winnipeg by making the work of 100+ agencies and programs possible. You’re connecting kids with mentors and after-school programs. You’re giving teens the supports they need to deal with mental health issues. And, thanks to you, families living in poverty can receive valuable job skills training and access financial literacy programs and tax clinics. You’re also providing a safe place close to home at 24 family resource centres throughout our city. United Way Winnipeg is committed to making our city a thriving community where everyone can realize their potential. It’s our promise to Winnipeggers that we’ll invest their generous donations to those areas where help is needed most.

About This Cause

100% of every donation goes directly to the agencies and programs in Winnipeg. United Way Winnipeg's overhead is paid for through special events and grants, including a generous grant from the Province of Manitoba. United Way Winnipeg donors support Winnipeggers in three key areas: helping kids be all they can be, moving people from poverty to possibility, and building healthy people and strong communities. Donations to United Way Winnipeg’s annual campaign support Winnipeg’s community fund. United Way Winnipeg distributes this funding to more than 100 local agency partners and programs that provide essential community services to Winnipeggers in need. Winnipeggers access these agencies and programs over 340,000 every year. United Way Winnipeg is a volunteer-led organization. Volunteers serve in executive functions on the Board of Trustees, committees, councils, and cabinets. Some of United Way Winnipeg’s partnerships and programs include Koats for Kids, 211 Manitoba, End Homelessness Winnipeg, Peg Community Indicators System, and the Winnipeg Poverty Reduction Council.
