Mission Statement
The philosophy of ICCCI is to provide a quality child care centre in our community that meets the changing needs of the community while following the rules and regulations that are being implemented for Day Care Standards of Manitoba. We believe that each child is a unique individual and that children learn most through their natural curiosity. All children are entitled to full participation and support to meet their individual needs. At Inkster Community Child Care, we believe that all children have the right to be valued, accepted and included. Our program supports the full inclusion of children who require additional support because of physical, cognitive, social or emotional need. Where additional staffing is required to help include these children into the program, it will always be utilized according to the goals of inclusion. We work cooperatively with any therapist identified by the family (example: speech, language, child development and physiotherapy). Our rich curriculum provides many opportunities to encourage children to develop creativity, self-confidence and a positive self-image. They should also have the opportunity to solve problems, make choices, and become independent. Our Early Childhood Educators are loving and warm individuals who are trained in child development. They provide activities in response to the diverse needs and abilities within the community we serve. Early Childhood Educators encourage children to develop to their fullest potential. We believe that children thrive in an environment of love and security, and that the parent is the most important adult in the child’s life. We encourage parents to be involved in all aspects of the Centre.
About This Cause
Inkster Community Child Care Inc. (ICCCI) is a 73 space licensed, not-for-profit child care centre located in Winnipeg's north end. We practice total inclusion meaning that we accommodate children of all physical, cognitive and developmental abilities barring any environmental or staffing limitations. Our main source of funding is provincial operating grants supplemented by parent fees. From these funds, all operational costs are paid including: program costs (supplies including cleaning supplies, furniture, art materials, toys and games, household supplies,, field trips, etc.), monthly rent and employee wages. While cost of living continues to rise, the operating grant has not been increased in over three years and there has only been one fee increase in over 25 years. Consequently, not-for-profit centres are facing more and more financial challenges each year meaning they must look for supplemental funds, such as grants, to be able to continue offering the same level of programming and care.
