Mission Statement
Strengthening families through meaningful & educational programming in a safe and supportive enviroment.
About This Cause
St. Albert Family Resource Centre’s (FRC) mission is “strengthening families through meaningful and educational programming in a safe and supportive environment.” We offer programs and services to families which are designed to improve the well-being of families and encourage them to build a network of social supports. Our work is prevention focused: we strive to engage families at the earliest opportunity to offer them support. We accomplish this by providing programs that target families with children (prenatal – 12 yrs.)The majority of our programs focus on the whole population and are educational based. Programs fall under the following categories: • Home Visitation Programs: Personal home visits provide clients with information on parenting and child development, developmental screens and linkages and referrals to other community resources. • Family Support Program: Family Support Services goes beyond traditional Home Visitation. Families have the option to connect through group work, face to face, drop-ins, social media and through traditional Home Visitation. We will take the resource to the parent in whatever format or timeline that meet the family's needs. • Early Childhood Programming (Birth– 5 yrs.): Programs in the Early Childhood Learning fall into two categories: parented and un-parented. All of the programs are designed to enhance a child’s developmental domains through play in a safe and caring environment. • Child & Youth Courses (6-12 yrs.): The variety of courses that we offer allows children to build on skills they already have as well as developing some new ones. Our programs help build confidence and self-esteem, allow children and youth to become more independent, explore their creativity, and much more. Examples of Child & Youth Courses include: Boys Bold & Brave, Girls Confident & Strong, Home Alone, Home Safety, Stranger Danger, Extraordinary Me, Taming your Worry Dragon and Worry Too Much. • Parenting Courses and Drop- in Programs: Parenting Courses are offered based on the needs of the community. The programs include parenting courses such as: Anxiety in Children, Positive Discipline, Parenting & Divorce, Sibling Rivalry and Triple P. We also offer Drop-In classes for parents where community professionals are invited to speak about parenting issues, child development and community resources and connections. • Outreach Services: Parenting courses are offered to community groups that serve parents. • Resources/ Referrals: Family Resource Centre makes referrals to community agencies on a regular basis. We also have a large selection of resources on parenting and child development available to families and community partners. • Special Events: Family Resource Centre has special events which encourage families to be engaged with their children. Some examples of special events are FRC in the Park and Boo Bash.
