Mission Statement
OUR MISSION CoDev is a solidarity organization working for social justice and global education in the Americas. OUR VISION CoDev links unions and civil society organizations in Canada with like-minded organizations in all regions of Latin America, establishing and sustaining partnerships to build solidarity, promote mutual understanding and create change for a more just and equitable world. OUR VALUES CoDev upholds the following principles in its work and alliances: - Human rights and social justice - Democratic and sustainable development - Universal and free public education - Universal and free health care - Racial and ethnic equality - Gender equality and empowerment of women - Economic justice and workers’ rights - Trade union rights - Indigenous rights and reconciliation - Environmental justice
About This Cause
CoDevelopment Canada is a BC-based NGO that works for social change and global education in the Americas. Founded in 1985 by a group of activists who wanted to go beyond simply sending financial aid to Latin American countries, we believe that partnerships between like-minded organizations in Canada and Latin America can be vehicles for learning, social change, and community empowerment. CoDev mobilizes Canadians and particularly Western Canadians to work with the people of Latin America for a fairer world. CoDev does this by fostering partnerships between civil society groups in Canada, and particularly British Columbia, and their counterparts in Latin America. These partnerships educate Canadians about Latin America and allow them to directly support the region. Such connections build solidarity, mutual understanding and ultimately improve prospects for a fairer global order. CoDev is made up of all of its amazing staff, board, volunteers and our Canadian and Latin American partners. CoDev is the sum of the relationships it has built over 35-plus years. CoDev staff members are represented by CUPE Local 1004 and we are an approved Living Wage employer.
