About This Cause

Who we are EmployAbilities is a non-profit charitable organization providing services to Edmonton, North Central – East regions and their surrounding areas, for 42 years. We work with adults and youth with medical conditions, disabilities and barriers to employment. EmployAbilities is recognized as a leader in developing and managing programs, services and resources designed to reduce barriers for individuals and increase participation in the labor force. A history of success Our success in placing our participants stems from our ongoing efforts to understand the demands of today’s workplace and respond to the current labour market & employers’ needs. We have built strong working alliances with the business community, individual employers and business associations. As a result, employers know they can trust our services and have become repeat customers. Program and Services EmployAbilities Career and Employment Centre - Edmonton A “one-stop” centre, providing assistance to persons with disabilities in finding employment and preparing for work, individuals may drop in as needed without an appointment. Services include: Assessment & identification of training needs and strategies development, resume & cover letters skills training sessions, Job search activities focused on “in demand” jobs. Also offers job placement & job retention activities. Averaging 675 visits per month Entry Restart Your Career Program –Edmonton A 24 week full time skill training program that prepares individuals for employment in entry level positions in various industries, such as administration, transportation, customer service, hospitality and data support. Training components include certification in First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, essential skills job readiness training sessions, extensive computer training as well as work experience. Learn to Earn Program - Edmonton Interactive and innovative 17 week program for Youth 15 - 30 yrs. with barriers to employment. This program provides youth with skills training and employment placement and includes certification in: Computer training, Inventory control, food safety, Pro serve, WHMIS, Fork Lift, Customer Service, Fall Protection, Warehouse Essentials, Standard First Aid & CPR. North Central - Area East EmployAbilities North Serving the communities of Cold Lake, Bonnyville, Lac La Biche, St. Paul, Vegreville and Athabasca this program provides skill training and employment supports to individuals with disabilities to assist in finding, obtaining and retaining employment. A component of this program focusses on “Customized Employment” , which can lead to self employment and starting a business. Lakeland Employment Services Employment and Training Services for individuals with multiple barriers to employment in the Cold Lake, Bonnyville, Lac La Biche and surrounding areas. Career Evolution North: Serving individuals currently on EI or EI Reachback (have received EI in the last 10 years) or eligible for EI. Services Provided in Cold Lake & Bonnyville: Employment Placement Direct Job Matching Unpaid wowrk experienc Short term training Retention and Follow up support. Career Evolution West: Career Evolution West serves Hinton and surrounding area,offering client support to: Unemployed or under employed Albertans Income support clients who have a short-term medical report Individuals who require supports to overcome employment barriers The support Services offered include: - Employment assessment, skills analysis, resume and cover letter development, employment skills development, work exposure courses, job finding, job search assistance, job placement, on the job supports. Strive 4 Work, St Albert & Area: 18 week program - 8 weeks instruction, 10 weeks paid work experience Certifications include: Computer training, Food Safety, WHIMIS, First Aid & CPR Eligible Participants: - Individuals with disabilities living in the St Albert area - Not eligible or in receipt of EI - Eligible to work in Canada EmployAbilities Grande Prairie: Persons with disabilities supports and job placement program - started April 1, 2020 Referrals are received from AB Supports and Disability Services (PDD) Serving adults with disabilities who are experiencing challenges to successful entry into the labour market or who are underemployed and are interested in making employment transitions Program services include job placement, skills training,and workplace training, etc. Employment services may be part-time or full-time employment www.employabilities.ab.ca 780-423-4106
