Mission Statement

The Georgian Bay Land Trust acts to protect wilderness lands and species along the eastern shore of Georgian Bay and the North Channel and its near watershed, through strategic conservation planning, land securement, stewardship, research, and education.

About This Cause

Protecting Land The Georgian Bay Land Trust protects over 7,500 acres of wilderness places and open spaces. This includes habitat for the Bay's many important species, including 50 species at risk. Leading in Stewardship The Land Trust's dedicated team of over 100 local volunteers actively steward each protected property to ensure that visitors are following land use policies, to monitor the property's ecological health, and to help identify conservation priorities. Promoting Conservation The Land Trust's education and outreach programs teach Georgian Bay lovers—of all ages—about the unique ecology of our archipelago, and what they can do to protect it. Nature walks with guest experts celebrate the Bay's spectacular beauty. Conservation Quest teaches children 8 to 11 about the environment through a free series of fun, hands-on activities.
