Mission Statement
Minwaashin Lodge: Indigenous Women's Support Centre provides a range of holistic programs and supports to First Nations, Metis and Inuit women, youth and children in the Ottawa-Gatineau region who are fleeing a variety of violent life situations, including intimate partner violence, family violence and human trafficking. Our approach to service provision is culture based and trauma informed.
About This Cause
Minwaashin Lodge provides emergency shelter to Indigenous women, youth and children fleeing a variety of violent life circumstances, as well as supportive programs and services, including counselling, systems navigation, advocacy, to support healing and resilience. Our understanding of violence in Indigenous communities recognizes its prevalence as being directly related to the historic and ongoing impacts of colonialism and assimilation.
