Mission Statement
To undertake, promote, assist in, and coordinate the relief of human suffering in Somalia and of Somali and other expatriates and refugees within and outside of Somalia, by organizing, collecting, purchasing and distributing relief supplies such as food items, clothing and medicine; by supplying relief services such as medical, educational and social services; and by collecting and by disbursing funds to those qualified donees, such as registered charities, the United Nations or agency thereof, and charitable organizations outside of Canada to which her Majesty in right of Canada has made a gift, which has met the prior approval of Revenue Canada; To promote and assist in the integration of immigrants into Canadian society and to assist in and to co-ordinate the provisions of social services to those immigrants in need; To undertake educational activities, to provide for the holding of lectures, symposiums, public meetings, exhibitions, classes, conferences, contests, festivals and events of all kinds and to provide for the publication and use of educational and institutional material, publications, and media of all kinds in pursuit of the stated aims of the Corporation, including advancing the public’s knowledge and appreciation of the art, history and the language of Somalia; To do all such things as are incidental and ancillary to the attainment of the above objects and in particular, to receive and maintain a find or funds and to use, apply, give, accumulate or distribute from time to time all or part thereof and all or parts of the income therefrom to or for the facilitating, aiding and promoting of the stated aims of the Corporation, and the maintenance of programs intended to achieve such aims by such means as from time to time seem expedients to its directors of educational activities, agencies or institutions and the aid of such activities, agencies or institutions already established; and; To exercise any of the rights and powers from time to time afforded by any statute to or by which the Corporation is subject or governed but only as incidental to the attainment of the aforesaid objects to the Corporation.
About This Cause
Somali Relief Network of North America is a Canadian charitable organization, which has been serving different communities since 1992. Our mission is to continue to serve the most vulnerable members of society: women, children, and the elderly, both locally and abroad. Our work is done without distinction of race, ethnicity, sex, language, religion, political views or any other form of distinction like nationalities, social or birth status. Our goal is to promote unity, harmony, and to build healthy relationships and environments.
