Mission Statement

Working Together To Help Every Student Learn and Succeed.

About This Cause

Northern Lights Public Schools provides a quality public education to approximately 5,700 students in 26 schools in northeastern Alberta. Partnerships with our community are an important part of being able to offer our students the best educational opportunities possible. In addition to our Kindergarten to Grade 12 programming, Northern Lights also offers a Care to Learn Preschool program. Students enrolled in our Enhanced Kindergarten program attend school five days a week for full days. We supplement the half-day Alberta Education Curriculum with enhanced instruction in all areas to better prepare students for Grade 1. All of our schools offer character education, student leadership, daily physical activity and enhanced fine arts options. In addition, we offer the Mobile Trades Lab for middle school welding experiences. Several of our middle schools also offer the Youth Achievement Program for career and trades exploration. Our high schools offer a wide variety of programming for students, including dual credit programs that allow them to pursue career training/courses while earning their high school diploma. Northern Lights Public Schools also operates a Trades Exposure Centre for oil rig and scaffolding training.
