Mission Statement
Regina Speed Skating Club Inc. ("RSSC") is a membership organization whose purpose is to develop, promote and organize recreational and competitive speed skating in the municipality of Regina. The RSSC is a member of the Saskatchewan Speed Skating Association and Speed Skating Canada. It is our mission to build a vibrant, inclusive community, to have fun together, to build character in our people and to empower excellence throughout our sport. We accomplish this by: 1) Providing inclusive access and opportunity for skaters, coaches, officials and volunteers to participate and grow within the speed skating community. 2) Achieving excellence on the international stage by investing in a world class and sustainable high-performance system. 3) Building excitement and awareness about the sport while fostering connections and partnerships.
About This Cause
The Regina Speed Skating Club Inc. ("RSSC") is open to anyone who loves to skate. We welcome both recreational and competitive skaters. Most new skaters join in the fall, but any skater is welcome to join at any time. The RSSC was formed in 1965 to: 1) Create an environment for the development, promotion organization of recreational and competitive speed skating. 2) Organize and participate in speed skating competitions demonstrations. 3) Encourage the development of coaches and officials. 4) Provide financial assistance for developmental clinics & sanctioned meets. The RSSC currently meets twice or three times a week at Staples Arena for Short Track practices in the fall and moves to our Long Track Oval at Mount Pleasant Sport Park as soon as the weather is cold enough for us to make the ice safe for the skaters, usually in early January. Our older skaters also practice at least one other day per week as well to help further hone their skills and improve their endurance. RSSC usually hosts short and long track competitions usually around the end of November and late January.
