Project Joy Association connecting seniors through technology in Canada

Edmonton, Alberta, T5J 3R8 Canada

Mission Statement

Project Joy is a volunteer run organization dedicated to collecting pre-loved and new technological devices and distributing them to seniors facilities across Alberta. We provide isolated and lonely seniors with family connections - one technological device at a time. Project Joy brings joy, comfort, and connection to seniors in care centres by donating pre-loved and new devices.

About This Cause

Connection - the impact of a Skype of Facetime call has recently become more important now than ever before. The power of technology has become a lifeline for so many. Born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the knowledge that seniors, especially those in long-term care facilities are facing isolation, Project Joy was formed. What started as local Alberta mother asking the local seniors homes how she could help, has grown into a province wide initiative that re-purposes donated tablets and smartphones and purchases new devices through generous community donations to be used by seniors who are unable to connect with their loves so that they can feel loved and cared for through connection. Although started to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have quickly learned that isolation for seniors is no only a pandemic related issue. It is a major problem, especially for low-income seniors. We are a 100% volunteer run organization.
