About This Cause
IGNITE A BRIGHT FUTURE! Every dollar raised through our fundraising efforts will go directly to classroom supports (eg. assistive technology, education assistant and youth worker supports, small class sizes, etc.) for our students. There many Ignite students and families who would benefit from our innovative education programs. Our for 2023 is to raise $50,000, to ensure that every student has access to our high quality online program. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Supporting students who are unique to teach and capable contributors to Alberta’s bright future! There is an overwhelming need to support students who: * need/want minimal disruptions to learning due to pandemic-related circumstances * are medically fragile or immuno-compromised, * struggle with mental health challenges (anxiety, etc.), * are Indigenous, * experienced success learning online through COVID, * are on the autism spectrum, have ADHD or other similar diverse learning needs, * are 2SLGBTQ+, * need a flexible schedule to allow them to work for a living or participate in high-level sports, * are aging out of funded education as a result of COVID-related interruptions to learning; or * need more time to complete high school… ...and whose learning needs are best met in the safe and caring online environment available through Ignite Centre for eLearning (https://ignitecentre.ca). These are capable students who may have historically been viewed as challenging to support from an educational perspective, but we are removing barriers to provide access to a high quality, unique education program that helps them – and all students – experience success. Ignite is the only school under its school authority/jurisdiction. Our Board also serves as the philanthropic society responsible for fundraising efforts, providing increased levels of support for the school it governs, Ignite Centre for eLearning. While Ignite Centre for eLearning is accessible to all students, they have a particular interest in improving educational outcomes for Indigenous students and those who are from vulnerable/under served populations. The Ignite Alberta Institute for Learning received its status as a charitable organization as designated by the Canada Revenue Agency on September 1, 2021. Ignite Centre for eLearning is a fully-accredited, grades 1-12 online, non-profit school that employs Alberta-certificated teachers. All teacher instruction follows the Alberta Program of Studies. Ignite Centre for eLearning is devoted to excellence in teaching, learning, and research, and in fostering a strong community of support. From its inception, there has been one belief that the Board and the school leadership team shared; that all children and students can learn. We are committed to this belief as we continuously build a highly relational, supportive, innovative teaching and learning community that will ensure success for every student.
