Mission Statement

Toronto Cat Rescue’s mission is to rescue and find homes for abandoned, sick or injured cats from situations of abuse, neglect or imminent euthanasia. Although we have Toronto in our name, we rescue cats from the Kitchener Waterloo area, as well as large scale rescues from across Quebec and Ontario. We rescue over 2,700 cats per year that would otherwise suffer. We are their last hope.

About This Cause

Toronto Cat Rescue (TCR) is a network of foster homes and volunteers. We are often the last and only hope for a homeless, abandoned, sick or injured cat. Since 1994, TCR has been helping cats escape situations of abuse, neglect, or euthanasia at a shelter. There are many stray and unwanted cats in and around the Greater Toronto Area. Through promotion of spay/neutering, fostering cats that enter the program and adopting them to loving homes, Toronto Cat Rescue works to reduce this number in a humane and compassionate manner. TCR is a recognized, non-profit charity #72088-4691-RR0001. Adopting a cat from TCR gives the cat a second chance at happiness. Highlights of TCR’s Activities: • Our MISSION is to rescue and find homes for abandoned, sick or injured cats from situations of abuse, neglect, or imminent euthanasia. • Our VISION is for Toronto to be a city in which no adoptable cat is killed and rescue organizations such as Toronto Cat Rescue are no longer needed. • The rescue group’s network of approximately 400 foster homes provide warmth, love and care for hundreds of cats and kittens each year until loving adopters can be found. Goals The objectives of the organization are to: a) rescue cats at risk from shelters and the community, to spay/neuter, vaccinate, foster, and adopt to good homes; b) educate the public regarding care of animals and the importance of sterilizing the animals in their care.
