Mission Statement

Empowering Communities, Nurturing Awareness: CEDAA is devoted to weaving a fabric of preventative health across Canada, which intertwines awareness, support, and actionable knowledge to navigate the complexities of eating disorders and health prevention. We strive to mitigate physical and mental health challenges through a collective, compassionate, and holistic approach, which ensures every individual embarks on a journey where they are seen, heard, and supported. Our mission cascades beyond awareness, embedding into communities, academic institutions, and individuals, fostering a future where support and understanding are not merely offered but are inherently present.

About This Cause

The Collaborative Eating Disorder Awareness Association (CEDAA) is a registered not-for-profit with charitable status that stands as a pillar of support, knowledge, and community in the realm of eating disorder awareness and preventative health across Canada. Originating from a student group, CEDAA has blossomed into a nationwide charity, registered in April 2023, with roots nestled in MacEwan University, Alberta, which now extends to the entirety of Canada. CEDAA operates with a profound understanding of the multifaceted nature of eating disorders, implementing programs, initiatives, and support structures that are not only informed by academic research but are also deeply embedded within and resonant with community needs and experiences. Through various student groups, community initiatives, research projects, and support programs, CEDAA endeavours to cast a light on the often-unseen challenges of eating disorders, ensuring that every individual, community, and institution is empowered with the knowledge, resources, and support to navigate through them. With a team that contributes on a purely voluntary basis, CEDAA ensures that every resource, be it financial, informational, or material, is channelled directly into its programs, initiatives, and support structures, manifesting a future where awareness, understanding, and support for eating disorders permeate seamlessly through every layer of our society.
