We operate an inspired, child-friendly environment dedicated to wrapping services around those impacted by child abuse. We facilitate a collaborative model of care designed to empower those working on the front lines of child abuse to work together to improve outcomes and build resilience for children, families and community.
About This Cause
Child and Youth Advocacy Centre of Kelowna (CYAC) The Child and Youth Advocacy Centre of Kelowna (CYAC) is dedicated to providing comprehensive wrap around support for children, youth, and families affected by child abuse, trauma, and neglect. Our mission is to ensure the safety, well-being, and empowerment of vulnerable children and youth in our community by offering a compassionate, culturally safe, coordinated, and trauma-informed approach to care. Our Values: Safety and Support: We prioritize creating a safe, welcoming environment where children, youth, and their families can feel heard, supported, and protected throughout their healing journey. Collaboration and Community: CYAC works alongside local law enforcement, healthcare providers, mental health professionals, and other agencies to provide a holistic approach to advocacy and intervention. Empowerment and Respect: We believe in empowering children and youth by ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met with dignity and respect. Trauma-Informed Care: We approach every situation with understanding of the impact trauma can have on children and youth, offering services that prioritize healing and recovery. Our Programming: Advocacy and Support: CYAC provides individual advocacy for children and youth navigating the legal, medical, and social services systems as a result of an experience of child abuse. Our dedicated multi-disciplinary team supports families throughout investigations and legal proceedings, ensuring that their needs are met at every step. Counseling and Mental Health Services: We offer access to trauma-informed counseling services to help children and youth process their experiences and begin the healing process. Education and Prevention: Through community outreach and educational programs, CYAC works to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect, helping to prevent future incidents and promote healthy, safe environments for young people. Youth Empowerment Programs: We provide a variety of programs designed to build resilience, self-esteem, and coping skills in children and youth, empowering them to take control of their lives and futures.
