Mission Statement

ComIT is a charitable organization on a mission to help change the lives of unemployed and underemployed Canadians by providing free technology and professional skills training that will help them secure in-demand careers in technology in their community.

About This Cause

We run programming in communities across the country, tailoring our three-month, part-time courses based on the technology needs and demands of local employers to ensure our graduates are developing skills that will set them up for success in their local job market. Our programs are 100% scholarship-based and free for students that qualify, focusing on Indigenous, new Canadians, visible minorities and underskilled communities that are facing challenges with underemployment or struggling to overcome employment barriers. As part of our mission to eliminate barriers and create job opportunities for unemployed and underemployed communities, we’re also addressing tech skills gap challenges in today’s labour market by creating a steady pipeline of highly-skilled talent for local employers that need and fill high-demand technology-based jobs. ComIT’s mission is community building. This includes volunteers and former students sharing their professional skills and experience during programs, to having instructors who are active tech professionals from industry-leading companies, and supporting students in making meaningful connections while learning knowledge for life. We build a strong community-led support network in order to change lives.
