Mission Statement

The Canadian Autism Society (CAS) works with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families to assist them in identifying and refining their unique skills for the future. We provide individuals with autism, age 18+, who seek affordable therapies. Additionally, we assist in finding respectable employable options within their area of interest, or in launching their own entrepreneurial ventures. We are committed to providing autism related awareness and education resources, support, and guidance to individuals with autism and their families. We are raising awareness and acceptance about autism by organizing events for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families, within the community. Finally, we provide hope and encouragement to families of individuals with autism through education, awareness, in-house professional therapies, and demonstrated structured plans for each individual connected with CAS.

About This Cause

CAS was founded by Avi Chaudhury (B.Sc., PMP) after his eldest son, age 4, was diagnosed with autism. Soon after his second son, age 2, was diagnosed. Looking back, Avi saw the signs, but due to lack of his own knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder, he thought it was just a phase, like many families he has encountered around the world. Having worked with many medical professionals, Avi was fortunate to know the intricacies of the healthcare system, and began his research as soon as his sons were diagnosed. He visited many specialists, inquiring about policies, processes and procedures, but he kept hitting dead ends. Avi soon found out, with autistic children, there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution. He knows families face frustration as they look for answers, and the medical professionals just cannot keep up. Being an eternal optimist, Avi plowed through the immediate challenges and till this date fights for the best medical and support system for his sons and now is able to identify, to a greater degree, the best and immediate resources available to help both individuals with autism and their families. Avi did not stop there – he has taken it upon himself to take on the mission of not only identifying the ever-changing needs of his sons but to also share this knowledge with other individuals with autism and their families that are facing similar issues. Canadian Autism Society formally came into existence in December 2019, and is currently a federally registered non-profit organization
