Mission Statement
Sudbury’s Centre for Transitional Care was designed to build capacity in the social services and homelessness sectors. We provide a level of assistance that exists between acute care settings and independent living.
About This Cause
In just over two years, SCTC has developed an innovative approach to ending and preventing homelessness. We’ve acquired the agreements necessary to provide stable and affordable spaces where our members, staff and participants can facilitate programs and activities that promote wellness, recovery and basic skills. As a registered charity, we have the privilege and opportunity to accept donations towards our programming efforts and in order to sustain our Drop-In Centre where we conduct workshops and promote a sense of belonging with access to basic needs and support. As of Fall 2023, Sudbury’s Centre for Transitional Care has over 180 applicants to our programs for housing and other numerous supports such as, but not limited to, counseling, addiction preventions, mindful therapies and access to mental health resources and referral teams. The Drop-In Centre located at 495 Notre Dame Av. acts as a central and accessible location where 35+ individuals can learn and acquire a list of needs whether they be physiological or psychological. Direct resources include, but are not limited to, 18 units with a harm reduction approach and 13 units where a sober living environment is strongly encouraged typically for individuals post ‘acute’ care (ie: incarceration, treatment, hospitalization, etc) while adapting and gaining the resilience for real life circumstances. Furthermore, SCTC is directly affiliated as the service provider and management of the Raising the Roof Reside Project. This grants us access to a total of 10 affordable housing units.
