Mission Statement

Xenia Concerts Inc. works with the neurodiversity and disability communities to design, produce, and present exceptional performing arts experiences for children, their families, and others within those communities who face systemic and social barriers to inclusion.

About This Cause

Xenia's vision is to serve as Canada’s leading resource for the creation and promotion of family-friendly, accessible, and inclusive performing arts experiences for neurodiverse and disabled audiences through professional training, productions, and presentations. The core (and ongoing) offering of Xenia, a series of family-friendly concerts that embrace neurodiversity and disability, was initiated in 2015 and has received rave reviews from attendees and media outlets. Xenia Concerts has also worked with organizations such as Alzheimer's Society of Toronto, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Centre, and Baycrest Centre to bring accessible music events to people in the neurodiversity, disability, and dementia communities who experience barriers to attending traditional concerts. With a Canada-wide mandate, Xenia Concerts partners with performing arts presenters throughout Ontario, Alberta, and Nova Scotia to train artists and arts organizations to provide neurodiversity- and disability-friendly programming to their local communities. The members of Xenia Concerts firmly believe that live and digital concerts should be inclusive events that enrich the lives of all types of audiences, and that everyone deserves equal access to high quality arts experiences. Xenia's unique approach to programming makes our concerts more accessible and appealing for those who find it difficult to attend traditional music events, while always maintaining a high standard of artistic quality. Xenia Concerts allow audiences to listen in the way they feel most comfortable, even if this means moving around and making sound. Audience members can sit, stand, dance, and play with toys as they enjoy the music. Visual aids, accessible e-programs, and carefully crafted concert programs with trained performers all help support the diverse needs, preferences, and sensitivities of Xenia audience members. In May 2017 Xenia Concerts Inc. officially became a Registered Charity. Xenia Concerts Inc.
