About This Cause
The Impakt Foundation for Social Change is dedicated to supporting newcomer and refugee communities in Canada, particularly in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Established in 2019, the foundation's mission is to drive lasting social and economic change through evidence-based practices, community input, and strategic partnerships. Program Development and Delivery Cultural Ambassador Program: Empowers newcomers to become community leaders, offering training, mentorship, and employment opportunities. Ambassadors co-design workshops, engage in evaluations, and foster social inclusion. Family Trails Program: In partnership with Trails Youth Initiative and Human-Nature Counselling Society, this program enhances mental well-being through outdoor activities, workshops, and peer support networks. It culminates in a camping excursion. Newcomer Integration Initiatives: Healthcare: Supports internationally trained doctors and healthcare professionals through the RMHC-Impakt Newcomer Integration Initiative. Construction: Collaborates with Blue Door to offer specialized programs for newcomers entering the construction industry. Entrepreneurship: Provides resources and support for newcomer entrepreneurs through a partnership with Futurepreneur. Apparel Industry: Connects newcomers with employment opportunities through the Common Thread Program with DESIGNwith. Community and Trust-Building- Impakt focuses on building trust and fostering connections among newcomers and between service providers. Our Integrated Newcomer Service (INS) Model aims to streamline access to essential services, starting with a Newcomer Resource Hub in the GTA. Partnerships and Collaboration-The foundation collaborates with over 25 organizations, including Youth Trails, Blue Door, Futurepreneur, and New Circles. These partnerships enhance program offerings, share resources, and ensure holistic support for newcomers. Advocacy and Thought Leadership- Impakt serves as a convener between fragmented organizations, advocating for policies and practices that prioritize newcomer needs over institutional agendas. They focus on developing culturally sensitive and community-informed solutions. Cultural and Social Events- Impakt celebrates cultural diversity through events like World Refugee Day, featuring refugee artists and fostering cultural exchange. Overall, Impakt Foundation’s activities focus on creating connected, inclusive communities, enhancing employment opportunities, and supporting the holistic integration of newcomers and refugees into Canadian society.
