To enhance the quality of life for those in need by providing food, clothing and other resources.
About This Cause
Our goal is to equip people experiencing poverty and hardships to move forward, become self-sufficient, and, in turn, give back to their community. The Haven strives to do so through its five core programs: • FOOD BANK: Serving close to 1000 people per week, we provide essential resources like fresh produce, canned and dried goods and other necessities to anyone in need in our community. • HAVEN'S CLOSET: We offer a selection of seasonal clothing that’s provided completely free of charge for individuals and families going through a crisis and referred by local shelters. We take great care to make sure that every item is gently used and in good condition. • HOPE WITH WHEELS: Our mobile street outreach serves the needs of people experiencing homelessness in downtown Toronto and South Etobicoke. Every week, we serve hot meals, as well as sleeping bags and toiletries to help meet basic needs. It’s not just about material goods – we also provide words of hope and encouragement to help uplift the spirits of those we serve. • FIRST CARE: We’re here to help support pregnant women and parents of newborns up to age two by providing essential resources such as food, clothing, diapers, formula, and moral support. • HAVEN HELPING SENIORS: We provide support to seniors who may be isolated or facing challenging circumstances. We offer a range of resources to help meet their needs, including food delivery, hygiene kits, and art kits. We also make regular phone calls to check in and offer companionship, and host workshops and social events. To everyone who comes through our doors, Haven on the Queensway offers an atmosphere of compassion, respect, dignity, and security. Currently, with the support of about 100 volunteers, the Haven serves an average of 6,000 people per month. It is all-inclusive by helping people of all cultures, faiths and backgrounds - if they need help, we help them.
