Mission Statement
Kids Up Front is dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children by connecting them to their community. The benefits of exposure to arts, culture, sport and recreation have been recognized for many years, yet many children in Toronto still experience barriers to community participation. There is a need and we provide a solution.
About This Cause
Kids Up Front is a charitable organization that provides access to arts, culture, sport and recreation for children who otherwise would not have the opportunity in Toronto. Kids Up Front reaches children and families in need by creating events and distributing tickets, classes and passes to 250+ charitable partners. Kids Up Front envisions a city where every child can be included at community events. Kids Up Front has two main programs: • Can't Use Your Tickets? is our trademark program that includes the following more focused programs: The SHAW Newcomer Pass Program; TD Noteworthy: access to music for children & youth; CIBC Theater for ALL; and MLSE Foundation Give-a-Kid-a-Game. Each of these programs is about distributing unused, donated tickets to families in need. We work in partnership with sports teams, entertainment organizations, concert promoters, special event organizers, theatre groups, venues, corporations and individuals to ensure that empty seats are filled with kids that could really benefit. Having empty seats at any event is a lost opportunity for disadvantaged youth. Kids Up Front redistributes tickets fairly and efficiently through its partnerships with local child and youth-serving charitable agencies and schools. • Kids Count takes Kids Up Front’s signature ticket recycling program, Can’t Use Your Tickets? one step further to turn kids from watching to doing. Kids Count, through exposure to and facilitation of activities, encourages kids to become active participants in sporting and recreational activities including: learn-to-skate clinics; theatre and dance workshops; soccer clinics; week long summer camp spots at basketball, baseball and arts camps; and outdoor nature programming (The Kids’ City Park Project).
