Mission Statement
Our Mission: To save stray cats and kittens from an untimely death.. To fully vet and find responsible homes for the cats in our rescue. To provide necessary veterinary care to abandoned cats. To find forever homes for abandoned and stray cats. To provide TNR for shy cats when financially able.
About This Cause
We are the largest cat rescue south of Calgary and currently have over 150 cats in our care. Many of our cats are in foster care, plus we house 50 cats on average at our intake house while waiting on fosters to become available. We are all volunteers and there are no paid staff. We rely entirely on donations and fundraising. For 5 years we had the Alberta Community Spirit Grant; up until 2013 when the Premier cut the program. All animal rescue groups that received this funding are in dire need now as a result. We are advocating for mandatory neuter/spay in Alberta and greater accessibility for low cost neuter/spay programs for the general public. We rely on the support of our community to help with advocating for responsible pet ownership. We fundraise constantly, bakes sales, bottle drives, market events, etc. We receive no funding from the City of Lethbridge, have done presentations for years requesting support; but have never received one cent of municipal funding. To spay, microchip, vaccinate, deworm a female cat: $325.00 To neuter, microchip, vaccinate, deworm a male cat: $200.00 We do not deal with most vet clinics in Lethbridge as they are too costly. We do go to the Taber Animal Clinic but sometimes having transportation is a problem. Unfortunately, if we have an emergency vetting, we pay a significant emergency charge and if a cat has to be hospitalized, the overnight fees are very costly. The industrial area of Lethbridge has hundreds of cats that are struggling to survive. We need the support of more volunteers and businesses there to help these cats; to have them vetted and kept safe. Building shelters for them and volunteers to feed them; to check them ongoing. The City of Lethbridge needs to be more responsible for the care of these abandoned cats by providing funds for their care.
