About This Cause
Help Change my City is a Vancouver BC, based non-profit that is dedicated to providing personal and leadership programs for youth in schools and in the community. We give the youth guidance, care, support, and provide mentorship to help them develop into whole able and contributing adults. Our goal is to see the youth reach a destiny of people of good character and good decision, enjoying gainful employment and good work ethic while collaboratively improving their lives, the community and our society as a whole. We go into schools on a weekly basis teaching health and career education curriculum, we teach life skills, provide group leadership mentoring and also provide events to help the youth understand that they are not just the change but that they can make a change starting where they are. Last year together in the school and in the community, we were able to impact over 4,000 young people in the Vancouver Lower Mainland. With our lunch leadership youth program we provide food and pizza for the attending students. In this program we find youth hungry for leadership lessons and youth hungry because of lack of sufficient food in their homes. This program impacts 300-400 kids from September to June. We are privileged to be able to speak into these young people's lives and see them grow as leaders. The young people in the community and schools need the in school lunch as part of their leadership program. They look forward to it and Help Change My City’s goal is to continue to provide this growing program. While we are actively providing this program community partners help to make our efforts go further. We also help students who have struggled cross the stage with bursaries to help know that even though life is tough and its a battle someone is cheering for them and is willing to give them an opportunity to support them in going back to school to learn a trade, or a skill to help them in life. Events to encourage Volunteering. We host events throughout the year to help the young people learn how to give back in the community to projects and individuals who need support. These range from giving to seniors in the community, helping mentor the younger generation, to making food for the unhoused individuals in the community.
