Mission Statement

To empower the community of Daniel McIntyre / St. Matthews to achieve social, cultural, economic, and environmental well-being. We increase the sense of belonging and well-being in the DM/SM community by creating safe spaces and fostering networking and partnerships. We collectively plan for our future by connecting people to resources that empower DM/SM residents and improve the quality of our neighborhood.

About This Cause

Social Wellbeing: Building and maintaining healthy relationships and having meaningful interactions with those around you. It is having a sense of belonging while valuing diversity. It involves open communication, boundary setting, and mutual respect regardless of our differences. Programs: Stress Buster, Chess Club, Bed bug program Economic Wellbeing: The ability of individuals, families, and communities to consistently meet their basic needs (including food, housing, utilities, health care, transportation, education, child care, clothing, and pay taxes), and have control over their day-to-day finances. It also includes the ability to make economic choices and feel a sense of security, satisfaction, and personal fulfillment with one’s personal finances and employment pursuits. Programs: Employment programs, Community Drop-in ( Free Food available, public computer use, Faxing, copying, Short-term Training for entry-level jobs, Cultural Wellbeing: The ability to practice one’s culture and celebrate others' experiences, beliefs, traditions, and values. As well as the experience of other cultures, practices, and beliefs in one’s own life. This well-being also involves the development of a neighborhood’s local culture through events, art, and other cultural activities. Programs: Beading and Art Workshops, Women Sharing Circles, Youth Drop-in, Housing Resources, Home Fix-up Grant Environmental Well-being: This is valuing the relationship between us, the spaces we live and work in, and the planet. It includes alternative transport, neighborhood beautification, food sustainability, environmentally safe practices, green spaces, and the community’s ability to safely experience the space around them. Programs: Good Food Bag, Community Gardens, neighborhood cleanups, Yards Works, Active Transportation, Greening Together Etc.. We have seasonal programs: Snow Bank, Holiday Celebrations, Community BBQ, etc..
