Mission Statement
Stella's Place is a community-based centre in downtown Toronto for young adults with complex mental health needs. Young adults develop skills and build resiliency within a peer-driven, recovery-focused culture. Stella's Place offers comprehensive, integrated assessment and clinical treatment services; clinically proven individual and group therapies; peer mentors and transition coaches; creative arts (visual, drama, writing, open mic nights); fitness and wellness programs; life management strategies; vocational and educational support and planning. Mission: Stella's Place is partnering young adults and professionals, respecting them equally, to pioneer a collaborative model of mental health services that is desperately needed.
About This Cause
Stella's Place was founded by young adults and their families who were not able to find the mental health supports they needed in this country. Now in its third year of operation and first year of operating at full capacity, Stella's Place serves young adults aged 16-29 with complex mental health challenges. Located in downtown Toronto, Stella’s Place offers a range of clinical and recovery services in a street-front, non-stigmatizing, and engaging environment. Peer support is integrated with everything we do. We aim to change the landscape of young adult mental health services in Toronto and beyond. Stella’s Place has been informed, developed and vetted by leading experts, extensive global research on innovative and integrated approaches in community-based mental health support, and by young adults who are integral to the design, delivery and evaluation of all programs and services. We believe -- and are in the process of proving - that our approach will • significantly improve mental health • serve as a scalable model for growth across Canada • be both more effective and less expensive on a per-person basis than what is currently being offered
