Mission Statement
Old Strathcona Youth Society provides flexible resources and creates a supportive environment that fosters youth empowerment and development.
About This Cause
The Old Strathcona Youth Society works with a very marginalized community of street involved and high-risk youth aged 14 - 24. We build relationships to find out from the youth what they need and where they want to go. The OSYS brings in outreach workers from other youth serving agencies to create a one stop shop. Some of our partners are: Edmonton and Area Child and Family Services Region 6, Edmonton John Howard Society, YESS, Student Legal Services, Boyle McCauley Health Services, Health 4 Two, Edmonton Police Services, Alberta Health Services Addiction and Mental Health, and Holy Trinity Anglican Church. We work within a harm reduction philosophy to help keep the youth safe wherever they are at in their lives. Many of the youth we serve have no other supports; we are a safe place for them to come and not be judged. We work with them to overcome many barriers in their lives such as homelessness, poverty, addictions, mental health concerns, and trauma.
