Mission Statement
To remove one of the barriers for people fleeing domestic violence or sex trafficking, are being hospitalized or are in an in-patient treatment program for substance abuse or mental health by offering a foster based program to care for their pets.
About This Cause
The FAM Network Canada is a grass-roots organization that helps victims of domestic violence flee or sex trafficking, are being hospitalized or are in an in-patient treatment program for substance abuse or mental health to safety by ensuring they are never forced to decide between abandoning their pets with their abuser, surrendering them to a shelter or staying in the abusive relationship or sacrificing their own health and safety. Victims can be from all socioeconomic backgrounds, can be men, women, children, teens, young adults and members of the LGBTQ2+ community. When animals come into the FAM Network program, they are immediately seen by a veterinarian and provided with vaccines and an exam. They are then placed into a foster home and provided with the necessary supplies for a comfortable stay for the duration their family is in a shelter. When the animals leave our program, they are reunited with their families and given the needed supplies to ensure a smooth transition home.
