About This Cause
OneLove Africa Foundation (OneLove) is a grass-roots international NGO, registered in both Tanzania and Canada. WE EMPOWER WOMEN .... Our primary focus is on bringing hope, support and empowerment to rural village women in Tanzania through entrepreneurial training, mentoring and facilitating the development of peer-lending groups. The Biashara Village Ventures program is very focused on 'applied learning' and includes exercises and examples relevant to village life. The program is comprised of nine modules that build on the steps of starting or building an enterprise. All materials are in English and Swahili. IMPACT? To date, we have been responsible for the start-up of over 3,500 micro-enterprises. Over 5,000 children have been positively impacted and now attend school due to their mother’s business profits. We continue to provide ongoing support through monthly mentoring sessions with a focus on peer learning. WE BUILD CAPACITY of village leaders, NGO's, community organizations and microfinance institutions by making our materials available for a nominal fee. Materials have been developed by professional entrepreneurial educators who also have extensive 'hands-on' business start-up experience and an understanding of the challenges facing African entrepreneurs. WE BUILD COMMUNITIES in a variety of ways as opportunities present themselves. Here are just a few examples from 2023-2024 ... 1. We imported over 400 bikes in partnership with Bicycles for Humanity. IMPACT? These bikes provided badly needed transportation to children and teachers to get to school and to business mamas to broaden their market area. 2. We installed power in 8 village homes with a focus on the elderly and single mamas with many children. IMPACT? Provide light for 12 hours every day. Resulted in refrigeration, children can do homework and frail elders can see to walk around at night. 3. We sponsor students to get an education and support the schools through donations of teaching equipment and sports supplies. IMPACT? Children are getting an education AND a future.
