Mission Statement
Our mission is to share the human stories of Canadian innovation and to inspire the next generation of great innovators. We achieve this mission through four key areas: Inspiring Kids, Sharing Science and Discovery, Encouraging Innovation, and Protecting Heritage.
About This Cause
We are the national non-profit supporting the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, and the Canada Science and Technology Museum. We provide access to museum programming, exhibitions, and resources for formal and informal education in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). Our Adopt-a-Class program welcomes underserved children in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec for school programs, self-guided museum visits, and summer camps, by covering costs such as transportation and programming. Our Edukits program covers shipping and program fees so that schools in need across Canada can access these suitcases full of science resources and engaging, bilingual lesson plans. Our Community Exhibitions program covers similar costs so underserved communities can host one of our travelling exhibitions, which includes materials and resources for the local museum to offer specialized school programs to their community. We recently launched the STEAM Horizon Awards, which will annually recognize the achievements of seven young Canadians in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Each winner receives $25,000 post-secondary education bursary, as well as unique mentorship and employment opportunities. We support special projects, including artifact restoration and joint fellowships between the museums and post-secondary institutions, which protect and share our country's heritage and culture. In addition to these current programs, we are seeking to start an Opportunities Fund, which would provide a funding source for pilot projects and special outreach initiatives across the museums.
