Mission Statement

Kids with Incarcerated Parents Canada (KIP) was founded in 2011 to support the needs of children across Canada that have a parent in the criminal justice system. The multifaceted impact of parental incarceration on children can be devastating. These innocent children are often faced with a myriad of challenges including; family instability, economic insecurity, societal stigmatization as well as a compromised self-esteem, trust, and sense of security in their familial relationships.

About This Cause

Our Mission KIP Canada is dedicated to providing programming and supportive services that foster self-esteem, security, and the development of resilience for children and youth affected by parental involvement in the justice system. By tailoring support to the strengths and needs of our children and teaching healthy coping strategies, KIP Canada hopes to empower innocent children to rise above adversity and embrace a brighter future. Furthermore, KIP Canada is committed to advocating for our children and their rights. Together with the family and our community partners, KIP Canada offers vulnerable children vital support from parental arrest to reintegration. Our goal is to optimize their psychological, emotional, social, physical, and cultural well-being and reduce the cycle of intergenerational crime.
