Mission Statement

Working Gear's mission is to relieve poverty by providing interview clothing and/or industry appropriate clothing to low income or unemployed individuals in search of employment.

About This Cause

Working Gear seeks to eliminate barriers to employment by providing industry appropriate clothing and gear at no cost to verified job seekers. Our mandate is to assist and empower low income and marginalized individuals on their mission to return to the workforce. We do this by providing interview attire, trades gear including industry appropriate footwear like CSA approved steel toe boots, and safety gear at no cost to the job seekers. These items are either purchased by Working Gear or donated from supportive organizations and the public. In 2018, we expanded our services to include complimentary hair-cuts and beard trims once a week provided by a professional barber at our shop. This service has been greatly appreciated by our clients and provides them with a boost of confidence before their interview or first day of work. The cost of purchasing the appropriate attire required to secure a job is frequently the most significant barrier for those seeking to re-enter the workforce. Recognizing the importance of safety and confidence on the job, we strive to remove these barriers and provide the gear needed for men and women to rejoin the workforce.
