Mission Statement
Helping Children to Help Themselves. Harbor4Life is all about providing a home, security, good nutrition, love and an education to children who would otherwise have nothing. Through education children have a better understanding of the world and can make more informed decisions as to how to live their lives.
About This Cause
Harbor4Life is a Canadian Registered Charity started by a man who has since passed, Francis Neveu. Francis wanted to give back and help children who weren't in a position to help themselves. We have a large, very nice orphanage in Buringa, a village outside of Bujumbura. Here we have 28 children who have no family support and many were sent to us through the Sisters of Calcutta in Burundi who asked us to support and assist in building their lives.. We are passionate about what we can provide for our children. We call this home, Amahoro Village, where we have not only children but we now have bee hives, goats, rabbits, chickens and a huge garden within the compound. Our children are blossoming. It is so exciting to be apart of this. We still need much more, electricity, running water to name but the most important. We are working within a country which provides daily challenges that we continually face and try to overcome. Our most exciting success story is about one of our oldest who is Jean de Dieu. He has just completed his Masters in Science with a Major in Physics at KL University in India. He achieved this is 2 years with First Class Honors with Distinction. Jean has had a paper accepted from a famous scientific URSI-GASS committee in Italy for the competition as young scientist participator. We are so proud of him and successes like this encourage us knowing that a child has really grown and accepted the challenges of life head on with a passion that only stears him forward. So many of our children have graduated from University, some from Trade Schools and are now facing the challenges of making a live for themselves, as children around the world do the same. We can show them the way, but they have to walk the path. Harbor4Life thanks all those that support our children and welcome volunteers.
