Mission Statement
Every year in the province of Québec, Canada, 25,000 young adults reach the age of twenty without completing their high school diploma. Furthermore, 50 per cent of boys fail to complete their high school studies within the normal five year period. This costs society $1.8 billion and remains an incalculable human tragedy for us all. The Mobilys Foundation’s mission is to mobilize Quebecers in making dropout prevention and student retention a community-wide priority. Mobilys makes enduring links between the kid, the teachers, the parents and the community to fight school drop-out rates. Mobilys is using social media to promote the benefits of education and to enable social involvement. Mobilys enables schools to inform their community about how they prevent kids from dropping out of school and what their needs are to achieve it. For each school, Mobilys sets up interactive websites for students and teachers to reach out to parents and other adults in the school community.
About This Cause
By using traditional and online media, Mobilys raises citizens’ awareness of the importance of education and student retention. By using an online matching engine, Mobilys creates enduring connections between citizens and teachers based on their shared needs, desired form of involvement and geographic location. By getting citizens involved, teachers can increase their initiatives aimed at young people at risk of dropping out. Mobilys is partnering with the business community, the public education system and social organizations.
