YES believes employment is empowerment and the cornerstone of safe and healthy communities. YES leads the Canadian youth sector with innovative programs that empower disadvantaged and vulnerable youth to become self-sufficient contributing members of society.
About This Cause
Youth Employment Services (YES) is Canada’s leading youth-serving organization, empowering 13,500 youth annually to overcome barriers and build sustainable futures. For nearly 60 years, YES has empowered youth with the networks, resources, skills and confidence to secure meaningful employment and build brighter futures. With an 83% success rate, YES has become a national leader in mental health support, employment training, and entrepreneurship. YES is regularly called upon to provide commentary in press articles. Recent examples of this include interviews regarding youth employment on CBC Radio and Global TV News Morning. At YES, we take an integrated, holistic approach to employment services, going beyond just connecting young people to jobs. We integrate various supports and interventions that foster resiliency and help them achieve sustainable employment and career growth, these supports and interventions include: Wraparound Support • Supports to address basic needs such as food security, housing and healthcare. • Free 1:1 and group-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy sessions are provided by 2 onsite therapists. • Life skills and stability workshops including financial literacy training, time management and communication. • Work-related resources such as transportation assistance, clothing and supplies, and access to technology. • Dedicated staff that provides navigation through government benefits, social services, and community resources. Employer Partnerships and Job Placement • YES has a network of over 3000 diverse employers in the GTA to create direct pathways into the workforce. • We develop programming that is innovative, responsive, and adapts quickly as industries change. • Networking opportunities including job fairs, industry panels, and hiring manager meet-and-greets. Sector-Specific Training • Workforce development programs that provide industry-specific training and job placement in in-demand fields. • Employer-led training where employers provide training aligned with their hiring needs. • Supports to cover the cost of certifications such as First Aid, WHMIS, Smart Serve, and Food Handler. Career Guidance and Training • Digital upskilling offered in partnership with our industry partners: Accenture, Amazon Web Services, IBM and EY. • An ‘Essential Skills for Personal and Professional Growth’ partnership with U of T Continuing Education. • The YES Mentorship hub connects youth with industry leader mentors in their chosen industries.
